GENERAL RULES OF SALSADALLAS.COM 2010 COMPETITION
There will be two categories: Amateur and Professional.
Same rules will apply for all categories.
The organizing committee will decide who is Amateur and Professional.
Couples can perform to a 2 to 3 minute song of their choice with costumes and Choreography. A panel of 3 to 5 judges will select winners. The elimination’s and Semi Final & Finals competitions will be filmed. Competitors will have to dance Salsa and Mambo.  One minute to 2 to 3 minutes in each dance form or rhythm.
We will have 8 weeks of preliminaries competition Friday @ La Joya Saturday at Inca's Cafe then will have the first week after the preliminaries the semi-finals and 2nd week finals.
Competition Dates: 1st week
Amateur - Friday Jan, 15th at La Joya
Professional - Saturday Jan, 16th at Inca's Cafe

Rules are as follows: (Rules are subject to change)
1. Dancers can dance Salsa or Mambo
2. All moves allowed
3. Only male & female partners accepted (No male/male or Female/Female)
4. Costumes & choreography is encouraged for elimination’s, semifinal & finals
5. No third party or outside help allowed for setup or whatever.
6. Music to be provided on CD for all competition (2-2 1/2 minutes) and finals (3 to 3 1/2 minutes)
Evaluation criteria and Judging criteria will consist of the following:

1. Appearance 10 points
2. Choreography- 20 points
3. Timing – 20 points
4. Precision/ Technique – 20 points
5. Presentation/ Staging – 10 points
6. Showmanship – 10 points
7. General Effect (Audience response) 10 points

Total 100 points
Competitors will be chosen on a first come first serve basis.  We recommend advanced registration.

1. SALSADALLAS.COM is Amateur/professional dance competition that does not discriminate. Is Open to people of all ages, nationalities, and cultures.
2. All categories are open to any outside of Texas dancers.
3. In the preliminary phase each couple will dance individually two- three minutes of a song chosen by the couple, we recommend that it will be choreograph.
4. There will be 3 regional competition selecting one couple in each category for the semi-finals. 5 Couples will be selected to advanced to the semifinal one from each one of the preliminary events. (See calendar for events)
5. There will be one elimination for all categories on March, 2010. Outside of Texas participants can send videos to the organizing committee. 3 couples will be selected that night to complete 8 couples for the semifinals. Each couple will present a performance using their own music in no less than 2 minutes, but no more than 3 minutes.
6. In the semifinal and final competition each couple will present a performance using their own music in no less than 2 minutes, but no more than 3 minutes. The use of sound effects of the music selected will be permitted.
7. In the semifinal competition 5 couples from each category will be selected to pass to the final round.
8. In the event of a tie in the preliminary competition, both couples will advance to the following competition. In the event of a tie in the semifinal and final all judges will vote again, but only for the couples that were tied.
9. The competitors will accept the decision of the judges and organizing committee as final and indisputable.
10. Expressions of discontent from dancers, choreographers, and/or family members toward the judges, organizers, general public, sponsors and/or any related entities with the Texas Salsa Open and the Salsa Dallas Promotions are absolutely prohibited.

• The first 3 couples in the professional category and the first place in the semi-professional categories will automatically qualify for the semifinals of the Texas Salsa Open. The winners of the Salsa Open will represent Texas in Puerto Rico Salsa Competition 2010.
  The Texas Salsa Open will start on Junuary, 2010 and the finals will be on March 2010.

The first 3 couples in the professional category and the first place in the semi-professional categories will automatically qualify for the semifinals of the Texas Salsa Open II. The winners of the Salsa Open will represent Texas in Puerto Rico Salsa Competition 2010.
